About Ram ProMaster Cargo Van

In the big- van segment the 2016 Ram ProMaster goes against the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Nissan NV and Ford Transit. The ProMaster, in 1500, 2500 and 3500 series, is derived from the successful European Fiat Ducato and Americanized with a Pentastar V6 engine, 6-speed transmission and numerous specific and customization features. A 4-cylinder turbodiesel is optional. Unique in the segment, and perhaps its best feature, is the ProMaster’s front-wheel-drive layout, which gives the lowest load floor and step-in height and highest ceiling in the class, thus resulting in more, and more accessible, interior room for hauling cargo or as a mobile workspace. The ProMaster’s unit-body construction, combined with the 3.0-liter diesel, helps it claim several best-in-class accolades, including fuel economy, cargo capacity, turning radius and payload.

Pros: "Lots of room. Comfortable. Tight turn radius."

Cons: "The key is switch blade style & opens in my pocket"

"I can carry twice as many parts and tools as I did in my Chevy 2500 and still have a clear floor and can stand up in the back. I have the standard height and I'm 6' tall and can walk through the van. The drivers side slider is awesome for service work. I open the door to a shelf full of tools and can grab my bags without having to go to the curbside and get in the mud or grass. I can make a U-turn on a standard subdivision street which is great."

"this van doesn't move well at all in any snow even with studded snow tires. very bad performance neither dealership or anyone else has any idea how to correct this. short wheel base and short vans are fine. but the extended and high top are the worse. needs more drivetrain engineering."
