Positive Review
I absolutely love this car. 236k and still going strong. I can average around 30mpg if I baby it a little. The only downside I've found is the lack of space for passengers, as well as the single cup holder. Minus these two minor things, I love the car.
Critical Review
this car was my first car... I bought it 3 years ago for $3000 and I've put about $2000 into it. Now, the transmission has gone out AGAIN, and I'm left in a tight spot without a car. Story of my life, while living with this car. Don't recommend it at ALL!

Runs like a champ. It is very good on gas. It has uper low mileage. It is very fun to drive. An over all good car.
Fun to drive, well balanced, sunroof
Not powerful, but geared real short: 3000 rpm @ 60
I bought it off a dealer lot in 2000. It had been leased for 3 years. It had 13000 miles on it (that's low). Cost about $13000. I like it a lot. It was always nice to drive. Gas mileage was nearly 30 mpg, so quite good. The radio crapped out early on, the easiest thing to replace. Needed the usual: exhaust, brakes, tires, struts, shocks, etc. Still on original wheels, although they are getting ugly. Original clutch. Slight rust on the 'A' pillars next to the windshield, slight bubbling of rust under the paint on front corners of the hood. I'm going to donate it to a charity for the tax write-off. Engine light has been on for a long time, needs exhaust, power steering work. One fender got messed up and not fixed. Chassis rust is an issue. I'm getting a certified used Honda Accord coupe. Hope to like it for 14 years...
The best handling car I have ever owned.52'739 miles is correct;since my husband owned his own car. I told my new mechanic it was a sports car,but when he looked at the motor, he said it was a race car. The maneuverability of this car has literally saved my life more than once. Only the dents in the body bring the resale down.I park in a senior center parking lot and this dark green is either invisible,or the car is a magnet. I have never been hit outside of a parking lot.
Great Design, Sporty, Comfortable, great milage,
Timing Belts are not cheap, make sure it was done
Built in the USA from 1993 to 97, the MX6 was designed by a team of designers from Mazda, and shared a platform with the Ford Probe of the same years. So it shares mechanical parts with the Ford as well as the Mazda 626. This makes service and parts very available. The design was so good looking, the MX5 two seat second generation used a very similar look for the front end which was very nicely done.
Looks, fun to drive, great value, reliable
Not for people who 6' or taller. Back seat tiny.
Looks sporty but 4cyl isn't. Bought this for my daughter to drive as a first car. She loves it, and I drive sometimes just to feel young. Handles great and feels like you're driving around in a super cool go kart.
fun to drive, economical
only one cup holder
Very lively, great handling, turning radius very short, excellent mileage - over 30mpg. Plenty of power on freeways or mountains. Runs cool.
Quick, pretty car.
Single cup holder, limited passenger space.
