Positive Review

"The compact car that drives like a luxury sedan"

I purchased the fully loaded EX model. The outside body design is sharp with distinctive styling, particularly its tail lamps and running lights, and HID headlights. The six-speed automatic transmission works seamlessly. I am impressed by the interior styling with its soft-touch dashboard and carbon fiber pattern around the center console and the 10-way power adjustable driver's seat with two memory positions, combined with the LCD screen with a trip computer and vehicle settings sits between the gauges, and a number of other luxury options uncommon to the compact car segment. It makes me wonder if I'm really not driving a luxury class car. I love having the Rear Display Camera when I shift the car into reverse. The car is much quieter than I have experienced in all other cars in its class. The Dual-zone automatic climate control, Flex Steering, large touch high-resolution display screen Navigation System and voice commands for most all Forte functions, and Forte's Bluetooth pairing system make it a pleasure to drive. The air cooled driver's seat is such a big plus on a hot summer's day. The only one real negative is that I wish the automatic headlights came on earlier at dusk and would turn on when using the windshield wipers.

"Think twice about buying this car"

At first We loved this car our only complaint was lots of blind spots. Then I was on my 6th oil change (I do my own)and found A lot of metal shavings in the oil. I used quality synthetic oil and wix filters on this car and 5k oil change interval. I took the car in to the dealership and got the run around "the car is running fine". To make a long story short I sold the car and bought a Toyota Camry. Buyer beware KIA motor company will fight you on warranty work. Don't just take my word for it, do a google search for metal shavings in Kia engine oil. The vehicle is only as good as the company who built and warranty's it.

Um, its ok

It costs $4000 to replace the Catalytic Converter. $4000. It is ridiculously over engineered with 4 pipes instead of one, so, 4 times the welding. This is the kind of stuff they don't tell you when you buy a Kia. Ridiculous.

Good gas. CHANGE YOUR OIL. This car is has a 11.5/1 compression ratio you idiots. That's HIGH PERFORMANCE. And DIRECT INJECTION. Keep your oil topped off. Kia warranties this motor for FIFTEEN freaking years or 150,000 MILES.

Engine replaced

I bought my 2017 Kia new and at 50,000 miles I am having to pay for a new engine due to sludge build up. I have always had the oil changed, maybe a few weeks late at times, but always done. I do NOT recommend. A new engine is close to $7,000!

*One & done...NEVER BUY A KIA!*

This was my first time owning a Kia, and my Forte EXGDI starting burning an inordinate amount of oil when it had around 80k miles (almost entirely freeway miles). I started keeping records of the oil consumption in 2019. I've had to check my oil levels weekly for a long time. The numerous times I mentioned it to the local Kia dealer when I was in for recall notices, I was told that it was normal. I subsequently learned that they didn't document any of those inquiries—I didn't realize that I should have ensured they were documenting my concerns about oil (which aside from being a pain, I suspected would lead to problems with my catalytic converter, etc.). Additionally, since about 2 years into ownership, I had to run only premium fuel (and regular Techron fuel treatment) to keep the car from pinging. Anyway, the car eventually started running terribly, and I confirmed that the catalytic converter was shot...as I've long feared would occur. The dealership quoted almost $3k. Even with that repair, the high oil consumption will prematurely clog up the new cat converter, obviously. I recently sold my "still looked pretty nice but would barely run" Kia for $1k. Btw, there has since been a recall, but my vehicle didn't qualify because by the time Kia acknowledged a problem with their GDI engines, my car was several thousand miles past the recall parameters (max 150k miles). I've never encountered a less scrupulous brand than Kia. I tell EVERYONE WHO WILL LISTEN...if you have an opportunity to buy a Kia, RUN AWAY. SAVE YOURSELF. If I can dissuade just one person from experiencing the frustration and mistreatment I've gone through at the hands of Kia, I'll be grateful.

Always gave me problems

Do not recommend this car. Had to replace the engine twice and it had a bunch of other mechanical issues.

Terrible
Pros

good on gas

Cons

engine problems

I bought this car brand new in 2018 and have had nothing but problems since. Only at 91,000 miles and the car no longer works. Over the last 2 years i've put over 2k into replacing everything. Constant recalls and engine problems. I do not recommend this car at all. The music cuts off randomly at times, screen will go black just paid it off and now have to get a new car. Put your money into a better brand
