Jeep has given us a glimpse at the future of its electrified 4xe line with the all-new Jeep Recon. Unlike the plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe, the Recon will be an all-electric SUV. It aims to combine the off-road excellence the brand is famous for with electric efficiency.
Jeep has said that the Recon is “inspired by the Wrangler,” which is clear from its aesthetics. It has a boxy shape, removable doors, and both approach and departure angles optimized for off-road maneuverability. We think it will be a midsize SUV about the same size as the 4-door Wrangler and the 2-row Grand Cherokee.
Electric vehicles are still more expensive than their gas-powered counterparts by a considerable margin. The Recon will cost more than the Wrangler and will probably start at around $60,000 before any tax incentives kick in. That would make it priced between the 4xe variants of the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Depending on where you live, state incentives could make it more affordable.
We don’t know the driving range of the Jeep Recon, but we’ll update this review when we do. It will likely achieve over 200 miles of range on a full charge, but we’re hoping for a long-range model capable of 300 miles or more.
Since it’s being billed as an off-roader, we expect 4-wheel drive to come standard on the Jeep Recon.
Jeep says the Recon will be available in 2024.
We don't have consumer reviews for this vehicle.
