The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is refreshed with an updated look inside and out, new technology, and a gutsy turbo engine option.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the most trusted names in midsize SUVs. This midsize SUV is available in three variants: the standard 2-row model with a regular gas engine, the longer 3-row Grand Cherokee L, and the plug-in hybrid Grand Cherokee 4xe. This menu of options continues into the 2026 model year as the Grand Cherokee gets an aesthetic refresh, new technology, and a new turbocharged engine option. With the 2026 Grand Cherokee, Jeep is improving on an already winning formula.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a mid-cycle refresh for 2026. In addition to a modest visual makeover, the interior is updated with a new 12.3-inch display. There’s also an optional 10.25-inch front passenger screen and an available McIntosh 19-speaker audio system.
Perhaps the biggest update is under the hood. Dubbed the Hurricane 4, the Grand Cherokee’s new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine option produces 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. A 293-hp V6 remains the standard engine in most trims.
The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee starts at $40,730 for the base Laredo trim. The top Summit trim begins at $62,585.

Before buying a Grand Cherokee, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Jeep Grand Cherokee resale value is historically about average for the segment. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
The Grand Cherokee’s center console has been reworked with a new bank of HVAC control buttons positioned below a 12.3-inch central infotainment screen. It also has smaller audio control knobs mounted higher up on either side of the screen. These changes may sound small, but we think they make for a more cohesive and user-friendly layout.
We’ve been impressed with the space and comfort in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and we expect those strengths to be no different with this year’s updates. The back seats are adult-friendly, and we can confirm that they’re wide enough to accommodate three child car seats. There’s also plenty of cargo space to boot, offering more room than a compact SUV but less than behind the second row of a larger three-row SUV.
The updated 2026 Grand Cherokee’s front end features a significant redesign of the lower front fascia, with a painted section splitting the lower grille in two. The upper grille predictably continues Jeep’s iconic seven-slat motif, but with new chrome or gloss black inserts and sharper angles. Additionally, the light signature now features a more dramatic curve in its LED lighting. The Grand Cherokee’s conservative design is aging well, and this year’s update helps keep it fresh.
The standard engine in the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee remains a tried-and-true 3.6-liter V6, producing 293 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The new engine option this year is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, offering better performance despite having fewer cylinders. It’s rated at 324 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Both send power to the rear or all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, and this Jeep can tow up to 6,200 pounds.
The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is backed by a par-for-the-course 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
The current generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been awarded Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It’s also earned a 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
