Hybrid Variation Available

The Hyundai Sonata is an excellent midsize sedan, to which the hybrid version adds exceptional fuel economy. The entire lineup has been improved for 2024 with an attractive new face plus more and better infotainment tech. The Sonata Hybrid’s gas-electric powertrain isn’t as seamless as the ultra-refined systems found in the Honda Accord Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid, but it’s backed by the best warranty in the business.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and evaluating the current collection of midsize sedans and hybrid cars, including the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.
The Hyundai Sonata gets some attractive enhancements for 2024. Outside, a completely redesigned front end is highlighted by what Hyundai calls a “Seamless Horizon Lamp” front light bar giving it a unique and futuristic appearance. Inside, there’s a newly available panoramic curved display featuring a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. It also has a redesigned steering wheel and a column shifter, which frees up more space in the center console.
2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid pricing starts at $21,400 for the Sonata Hybrid SEL Sedan 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $31,950 when new. The range-topping 2024 Sonata Hybrid Limited Sedan 4D starts at $26,000 today, originally priced from $38,350.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
The pricing of the Sonata Hybrid is similar to the Toyota Camry Hybrid, while the Honda Accord Hybrid starts at about $32K, albeit better equipped.
Before buying a Sonata Hybrid, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should really pay. Hyundai Sonata Hybrid resale value is about average for the segment.
The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is powered by a 192-horsepower hybrid system matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Unlike the Accord Hybrid, which is quicker than its gas-only counterpart, the Sonata Hybrid is about a full second slower to 60 mph than the equivalent gas-only version. We’ve also found that power delivery and brake feel can be a bit uneven, too. The Sonata Hybrid is otherwise comfortable on the highway and easy around town, but the powertrain shortcomings relative to the competition make it a tough sell among our reviewers.
The Sonata Hybrid delivers 47 mpg in mixed city-and-highway driving (44 city/51 highway). This is a bit above average among midsize hybrid sedans. Learn more about the Sonata Hybrid’s mileage at the EPA website.
There’s a definite air of class to the Sonata Hybrid’s cabin. We love the new panoramic curved display seamlessly housing the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Hyundai also moved the shifter to the steering column for a cleaner center console and a more open, airy feel.
Occupant space is generous up front and adequate behind, with 34.8 inches of rear legroom. That’s enough for average-sized adults, but the Camry Hybrid has 38 inches, and the Accord Hybrid boasts 40.8 inches.
Trunk space of 16 cubic feet is respectable for the class, and it’s the same size as the non-hybrid Sonata — so no compromise was required to accommodate the extra hardware. The rear seats of the Sonata Hybrid also split and fold in 60/40 fashion for a little additional cargo-carrying flexibility.
The refreshed 2024 Sonata Hybrid sedan might easily be mistaken for a luxury car by anyone who didn’t get as far as spotting the Hyundai badge. Sharp body lines and the new “Seamless Horizon Lamp” lend an upscale look, shunning the timidity that tends to afflict some mainstream cars.
Seamless Horizon Lamp
This new front light bar contributes to the unique exterior design of the Sonata that’s sure to turn heads.
Panoramic curved display
This optional feature houses a digital gauge cluster and an infotainment screen in one sleek display giving the Sonata’s cockpit a high-tech and driver-centric theme.
Efficient powertrain
The fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain in this sedan translates to low fuel costs with no plugging in required.
Excellent warranty
The Sonata gives you peace of mind with a class-leading 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
Highway Driving Assist
This semi-autonomous driving system uses features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring to make highway driving safer and more relaxed.
Remote Smart Parking Assist
This optional feature allows the driver to nose the Sonata into or out of a parking space while standing outside and pressing buttons on the key fob.
A 4-cylinder engine mated to a hybrid system generates 192 horsepower fed to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
At 15,000 miles per year, a Sonata Hybrid will burn about 12 fewer gallons of gas each month than even the most efficient Sonata gas version. That’s a savings of $36 per month when paying $3 per gallon.
The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is backed by a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. You also get complimentary maintenance for three years of 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is by far the best warranty coverage in this class.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to its Top Safety Pick list for 2024.
