For 2015, the 500 Abarth receives a new 6-speed automatic transmission, while all but the base 500 trim are outfitted with a new 7-inch easier-on-the-eyes/visually sharper TFT instrument cluster (replacing the old analog unit). Streaming Bluetooth and an additional USB port are also new this year.

A new 1957 special edition is added, bringing a retro look that defined the original car. Other changes include a new Ivory interior color, new wheels and a revised passenger seat that sits an inch lower to the floor.

About FIAT 500 Abarth

Many didn't expect a small Italian subcompact to do well in the U.S., but the 2015 Fiat 500 coupe and soft-top cabriolet have confounded the critics. Smaller than the Mini Cooper and Ford Fiesta, the 500's primary attraction are its playful attitude, impressive list of colors and features, attractive price and good fuel economy. Of course, those not interested in cute also have a friend in the 500, that being the performance-oriented Abarth model. Even environmentalists have a seat at the table, thanks to the all-electric Fiat 500e. Now, if only we could get more car companies to see the wisdom of adding color and cleverness to their most affordable models.

Pros: "Super Fun to Drive, Good Gas Mileage,"

Cons: "N/A"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I have had this car for a little over a year now, and I just love it. It runs super smooth and I get great gas mileage (mine is a manual transmission). I just putz around town in mine and it is great for that. This car is definitely a commuter car, nothing more. I have driven it on ice and snow, since the past couple winters have been rough. I have to say this car does very well on ice and snow. My car prior to this one did not have the Bluetooth and the auxiliary jack for the music, so this has been a pleasure to have and I really enjoy it! Has a nice sound system as well. I totally recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a good solid commuter car."

Pros: "Gas mileage, room up-front"

Cons: "back seats a squeeze (used often?)"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Bought new just over 2 years ago and coming up to 33,000 miles now. Main reason for the purchase was the gas mileage - we have the basic manual version, and get on average 44 mpg commuting into DC. If careful, we can get an average of 50 mpg on trips to the Atlantic shore. Space up front not a problem - and when necessary we can fit a couple of people in the back (but only when necessary!). No major problems. Lots of interest - and people smile when they see us!"

Pros: "Fun to drive in the city!"

Cons: "You feel every bump! LOL"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought my FIAT because living in the city you have a lot of parallel parking, smaller roads and you have to be quick to cut in if you want to get anywhere! With the amount of potholes in DC, I do feel the bump in the car, but I love the interior and my sun roof, it's just such a fun car on the interior and exterior! I have loved owning my FIAT for every second. I have not had any issues with my car (knock on wood) and I love how it speeds up pretty quick and I can whip in and out of anywhere! Highly suggest!! I only have to spend $25 dollars max every 1.5-2 weeks and I drive it for work and all over on the weekends!"
