KBB Review Highlights

Drawing inspiration from the X-Motion Concept, the Nissan Rogue enters its third generation of production with a fresh look, more power, and better technology. Essentially an all-new vehicle in the age of fascia tweaks, the Nissan Rogue is the linchpin in the brand’s portfolio overhaul.

Consistently delivering a comfortable ride with a quiet cabin, the 2021 Nissan Rogue builds on what it does well. It offers a practical, value-driven vehicle with a plush, modern sensibility. This year’s Rogue feels fresh and mildly athletic with the chops to handle enthusiastic driving due to a new multilink rear suspension system. Equipped with an 181-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, the Rogue achieves more power and efficiency than the 2020 model year. Using the enhanced CVT, five driver-selectable Drive Modes, standard front-wheel drive (FWD) with available all-wheel drive (AWD) on all trim levels, and Nissan’s signature “Zero Gravity” seats, the 2021 Rogue was responsive, comfortable, and reliable throughout our testing.

Thoughtful details abound, and the attention to detail shows in the interior’s blend of comfort and support. The available 12.3-inch digital dashboard is straightforward, and a standard 7-inch center display (9.0-inch available) is intuitive to use. A 10.8-inch head-up display is available, too. Doors open to almost 90 degrees for easy access. Cupholders have larger bases to allow space for your favorite beverages, and the center console opens wide with a dual-panel lid to create generous space. Leg and cargo space have also increased by 4.5 cubic feet since last year’s model.

2021 Nissan Rogue

Designed at Nissan’s design center in Japan, the new exterior is both refined and rugged. It has a V-shaped grille and an upright roof. The slightly boxy shape and distinctive lines usher in a new age for Nissan with its volume-leading offer.

The 2021 Rogue is available in four trims. The base Rogue S is nicely outfitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting in the front and rear, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Nissan’s comprehensive safety suite, Safety Shield 360. Climb the model line to SV and add larger wheels, semi-autonomous Pro Pilot Assist, and a powered driver’s seat with lumbar support. The SL trim brings leather seating, 19-inch wheels, a panoramic moon roof, and a power passenger seat. The top-tier Platinum offers enhancements to the semi-autonomous drive system Pro-Pilot Assist with the addition of the regulating and adaptive Navi-link, diamond-quilted semi-aniline leather seating, the magnificent Bose audio system, wireless charging, and wireless connectivity to Apple CarPlay.

Of note is the Premium Package, which adds many of the features from Platinum to the SV and SL trims, though in different combinations. Also, Vehicle Motion Control is new for 2021. It predicts the driver’s next best steps and modifies vehicle behavior accordingly.
