KBB Review Highlights
The 2022 Genesis G70 received a styling update, plus a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. This is on top of an already generous amount of standard equipment. Add all the same features from a German rival’s options list and the price would end up being substantially more. The 2022 G70 offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 252 horsepower or a 365-hp twin turbocharged 3.3-liter V6. This goes to a standard rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup, or an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system through an 8-speed automatic transmission. This model year saw the discontinuation of a manual transmission, which probably bothered no one.
As the years have rolled on, the gripe about Genesis not having the same prestige as its European competition has lost a lot of weight, if it had much to begin with. We think the G70 was really the first sedan from Genesis that said, “We’re on top of this luxury car thing, we know what needs to be done, and we’re doing it.” This involves soft-touch surfaces, ambient lighting, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, smart ergonomics, and exemplary build quality. Further up the trim level ladder comes fine leather, more tech, and a brilliant Lexicon sound system. For most buyers, there’s nothing the 2022 G70 lacks, yet plenty the G70 packs. We’ve also found that driver assistance features in Genesis vehicles, like adaptive cruise control and Highway Driving Assist, work exceptionally well.
