Introduction
The Lexus ES is a highly regarded midsize luxury sedan with a long list of accolades. Here at Kelley Blue Book, we have recognized it multiple times as a Best Buy Award winner in its segment, and Lexus itself has frequently earned top honors as a leading luxury brand. True to Lexus’ reputation, the ES delivers excellent craftsmanship, upscale materials, a calm and composed ride, strong dependability, and a generous list of features at a price that remains very competitive in its class. What really distinguishes the ES, though, is its value proposition — its initial cost is attractive, and it consistently outperforms its rivals when it comes to holding its resale value.

Apart from its impressive value proposition and the fact that it also achieves good fuel economy, the 2023 ES is renowned for its easygoing manners and generous cabin space, especially for rear passengers. All-wheel drive is available, as is a hybrid drivetrain. The 2023 Lexus ES is a solid option for buyers considering a luxury sedan.

KBB Review Highlights
In a class of fantastic contenders like the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Volvo S90, and the Genesis G80, the more affordable 2023 Lexus ES establishes itself as a value leader. This generation of ES launched in 2019, and the 2023 version receives an updated infotainment system (addressing one of the few gripes about the ES), updates to the driver assistance features, and a few mild styling tweaks. A Dynamic Handling package also becomes available for F Sport versions, but sportiness isn’t really the first, second, or even third thing that comes to mind when we think about the Lexus ES.

The lineup includes the gasoline-only ES 250 AWD (with all-wheel drive and a 4-cylinder engine), the ES 350 (with a V6), and the ES 300h hybrid. Since Toyota is the parent company behind Lexus, we can rest easy in the knowledge that this hybrid setup will perform its duties admirably. Even the entry-level ES 250 AWD has an eye on economy, with an intelligent system that can detect the need for all-wheel drive automatically and apply as needed. The V6-powered ES 350 deploys front-wheel drive (FWD) and delivers a forceful 302 horsepower. The hybrid ES 300h (also front-wheel-drive) can travel up to 44 miles on a gallon of gas, yet still packs sufficient pep for commutes as well as longer trips.
The rear seats offer more legroom than most of the class, and the high-quality cabin also offers elegant color schemes, with F Sport models featuring aluminum accents inspired by ancient Japanese swords. A powered moonroof is also available. The infotainment system comes with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto phone integration and Wi-Fi capability, plus a high-resolution 8-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen (depending on the variant).
