Introduction
Launched in the U.S. in 2019 and winning the North American Car of the Year award, the Genesis G70 luxury compact sedan dared to take on stalwarts such as the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and to a lesser extent the Lexus IS and Cadillac CT4. It worked, with the G70 making a luxury performance statement that even made the Germans take notice. After a significant mid-cycle refresh in 2022 that included the end of the short-lived manual transmission option, the 2023 G70 had only minor equipment changes that still add up to a luxury value with an industry-leading warranty.

KBB Review Highlights
The 2023 Genesis G70 carries over with no major changes, with only the Sport Prestige package replacing the Prestige. The generous amount of standard equipment, including but not limited to heated front seats, a power trunk, and adaptive cruise control, would typically cost extra on rivals. Keep in mind that although Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, you’ll still need a cord to connect them. The 2023 G70 offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 252 horsepower or a 365-hp twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6. This goes to a standard rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup, or an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
As the years have rolled on, the gripe about Genesis not having the same prestige as its European competition has lost a lot of weight, if it had much to begin with. We think the G70 was really the first sedan from Genesis that said, “We’re on top of this luxury car thing, we know what needs to be done, and we’re doing it.” This involves soft-touch surfaces, ambient lighting, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, smart ergonomics, and exemplary build quality. Further up the trim level ladder comes fine leather, more tech, and a brilliant Lexicon sound system. For most buyers, there’s nothing the 2023 G70 lacks, yet plenty the G70 packs. We’ve also found that driver assistance features in Genesis vehicles, such as adaptive cruise control and Highway Driving Assist, work exceptionally well.
