Used 2024 Chrysler Pacifica

Chrysler invented the minivan back in the 1980s, and it still makes one of America’s best-sellers in this class. Spacious, safe, and family-friendly, the Chrysler Pacifica has almost everything you can want in a family car. Its Stow ‘n Go 3-row seating, sliding doors, and options like a built-in vacuum make it easy to see why so many families choose the Pacifica over an SUV. Every Pacifica is well-equipped, but it’s a bona fide luxury vehicle in the loaded Pinnacle trim.

The Chrysler Pacifica is in a competitive class of minivans along with the Honda Odyssey, Kia Carnival, and hybrid-powered Toyota Sienna. There’s also a plug-in hybrid version of the Pacifica, which we review separately.

The Chrysler Pacifica gets a few minor updates for 2024. The Emergency Vehicle Alert System is a new safety feature that alerts the driver if any emergency vehicles are nearby. Red Hot and Baltic Gray are two new paint options, and there’s a new Sepia interior option for the Pinnacle trim.

The Chrysler Pacifica is powered by a 287-horsepower V6 engine matched with a 9-speed automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive. This engine is perfect for a minivan. There’s no shortage of power, making the Pacifica easy to drive, even when loaded with passengers and cargo.

We found driving comfort to be one of the strong suits of the Pacifica. For dropping off kids at school and long-distance road trips alike, the pleasant ride quality of the Pacifica makes it an accommodating family vehicle.

The optional all-wheel-drive system makes the Pacifica one of the best vehicles for families where the roads get ugly in winter.

Fuel Economy

The Chrysler Pacifica gets 22 combined mpg with FWD and 20 mpg with AWD. That FWD fuel economy rating is identical to the Honda Odyssey and Kia Carnival. The hybrid-powered Toyota Sienna is more efficient, returning up to 36 mpg, but the plug-in hybrid variant of the Pacifica has lower estimated fuel/electricity costs and can go up to 32 miles on electricity alone.

The spacious interior of the Chrysler Pacifica is full of modern amenities and technology. It’s available with premium features like Nappa leather seating, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and wireless phone charging. On the more practical side, you can also get a built-in vacuum cleaner, an in-car camera system, and a rear entertainment system to make road trips more enjoyable for your passengers.

Clearly designed with families in mind, the Pacifica comes standard with Stow ‘n Go seating; the second- and third-row seats can fold flat into the floor. Transforming the Pacficia from a passenger van to a cargo van is nearly effortless, without having to remove heavy seats and find a spot for them in the garage. Stow ‘n Go is a massive advantage of the Pacifica; no other minivan has fold-flat second-row seats.

When those seats are in place, there’s no bad seat in the Pacifica. You get 39 inches of second-row legroom; even the third row is adult-friendly with 36.5 inches of legroom. That’s more third-row legroom than the Kia Carnival, but the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna boast over 38 inches of legroom in the way back. In our testing, the Easy Tilt second-row captain’s chairs made the third row easier to access, even with child car seats installed.

As for the vast cargo space, dimensions of 32.3 cubic feet behind the third row, 87.5 cubic feet behind the second row, and 140.5 cubic feet behind the first row are close to the average for a minivan. The spacious Pacifica has more cargo room behind the second row than most midsize 3-row SUVs have behind the first row.

The Chrysler Pacifica has a modern look with stylish wheels, a sleek light signature, and practical features like sliding doors. This is a minivan that the kids (and the driver) won’t be embarrassed to climb out of.

Stow ‘n Go seating
The Chrysler Pacifica comes standard with the handy Stow ‘n Go seating system. The second- and third-row seats can fold flat into the floor, giving you tons of cargo space without needing to take any seats out of the van.

Available AWD
The Chrysler Pacifica is the only minivan other than the Toyota Sienna to offer all-wheel drive. This option makes the Pacifica a good choice for families in snowy climates.

Luxurious Pinnacle trim
The Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle is the most luxurious minivan on the market. Features like quilted Nappa leather upholstery, lumbar pillows in the second row, Berber carpet, premium audio, and what Chrysler calls the Ultra Console make this a luxury vehicle with family-friendly seating for seven.

Uconnect infotainment system
We love the user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system in the Pacifica. It comes standard with a 10.1-inch screen, Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM.

Safety tech
The Pacifica delivers the peace of mind families expect from a minivan with standard safety features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring.

Stow ‘n Vac
Chrysler knows that minivans can get messy. The available Stow ‘n Vac feature is a Rigid vacuum cleaner behind the second row, making it a little easier to keep the interior clean, whether in the driveway or on the go.

The Chrysler Pacifica is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the front or all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. The performance and fuel economy of this engine are typical for a V6-powered minivan. More efficient options include the hybrid-powered Toyota Sienna and the plug-in hybrid variant of the Pacifica.

The Pacifica has best-in-class towing, but only by a little bit. It can pull up to 3,600 pounds, and its three big rivals all have a 3,500-pound tow rating.

3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty

The Chrysler Pacifica is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. That coverage matches the Odyssey and Sienna, but the Kia Carnival has a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Safety

As families expect from minivans, the Chrysler Pacifica gets stellar safety ratings. It receives a 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and it’s been awarded the honor of Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Its superb safety ratings come from favorable crash-test results and abundant standard safety features.
