About Chevrolet Sonic

Available as a sedan or versatile hatchback, the 2017 Chevrolet Sonic slots between the tiny Spark and compact Cruze in Chevy's lineup. With its efficiency, surprising feature content and easy driving manners, the Sonic has always been a worthy rival to the Ford Fiesta, Kia Rio, Hyundai Accent and Toyota Yaris. Thanks to a freshening for 2017, the new Sonic presents an even better option for younger drivers or commuters on a budget, thanks to the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility and available features like built-in Wi-Fi not usually found in a subcompact car. While base models still don't offer power windows, those willing to spend a bit more can find plenty of value in the 2017 Sonic.

Chevy’s subcompact Sonic for 2015 sees only a few minor updates. OnStar with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi is standard and comes with a 3-month/3GB free trial. Other changes include the addition of the 1.4-liter turbocharged engine to LTZ models and a new color, Blue Velvet.

Changes for the Sonic for 2014 are relatively few. A rear-vision camera is standard on the LTZ and RS and available on the LT. The big news for the 2013 Chevy Sonic is the addition of the sporty RS that includes a stiffer suspension, leather seats and unique 17-inch wheels. There's a simplified version of the MyLink infotainment system and all Sonics gain integral blind-spot side mirrors. The LT trim adds cruise control, a USB port, second auxiliary input, steering-wheel audio controls and Bluetooth streaming audio.

The Chevy Aveo had grown so uncompetitive and unloved enough that when it came time for a new generation, Chevy changed everything including the name. With the arrival of the radically improved 2012 Chevy Sonic, the short list of subcompact cars worth considering is now one car longer.

"Easy to park, great gas mileage the ac blows me away. Turn it when I start the car an an go 50 feet down the road I have to turn it back down to 1st setting. I have plenty of room to take a friend with me to food shop or load it with donation items. I drove a Pontiac for several and thought a small car would be uncomfortable.....I was wrong."

"Decided to sell my 2001 Jeep Cherokee because of fuel economy and started to do the research. I really wanted to stick with domestic so my search was narowed to the Chevy Sonic and the Ford Fiesta and I did not want to wait for the Dodge Dart. Drove the Fiesta and the Sonic and there was no comparison, the Chevy rode better, was quicker, quiet and very comfortable. My research led me to order a sedan LT with the 1.4 Turbo, six speed manual. We have now driven over 5000 miles with a combined fuel avearge of 40MPG since we bought the car. If you are in the market for a subcompact car you really need to check out the Sonic. This car has exceeded all of our expectations and for someone who had not owned a GM vehicle for years it has created a new confidence that we can build a car in Michigan, USA, that can compete with the best in the world. Nice job Chevrolet, and thanks to the Lake Orion workers who have built a world class car. Keep it up!"
