The 2026 ES 350h has a hybrid setup making 244 horsepower (up from the 215 horses of the soon-to-be-outgoing ES 300h) and its quickest acceleration time from standstill to 60 mph is estimated at around 7.6 seconds, accomplished with optional all-wheel drive. That’s not particularly speedy, but then ES hybrids are not revered for their enthusiast appeal.
There’s a similar lack of urgency with the all-electric 2026 ES 350e, configured with front-wheel drive (FWD) and one motor generating 221 hp. Its zero-to-60 mph time is expected to be around 8.7 seconds.
Life edges its way into the fast lane with the 2026 ES 500e, whose two electric motors conjure up 338 hp and will propel the car to 60 mph in around 5.7 seconds. This model has all-wheel drive (AWD).
Lexus says the new ES should “deliver a refined driving experience… enhancing quietness and ride comfort.” That’s always been the ES way. And we’ve never thought the previous ES fell short in these respects.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The previous generation’s ES 300h hybrid achieves an impressive 44 mpg in combined city/highway driving. We expect the new ES 350h to be just as frugal.
<h3>Range and Charging</h3>
The single-motor ES 350e is expected to cover about 300 miles between charges. The dual-motor ES 500e will come in lower. Charging times are still to be disclosed.

Compared with its predecessor, the new-generation ES is about 6.5 inches longer (about 17 feet in total, almost a foot more than the current Camry), with the wheelbase stretched by 3 inches. We’ve always found the ES to be spacious for occupants in both rows, and it looks like this new model will be even more accommodating.
The new ES is built on the same platform as the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/crown/">Toyota Crown</a>, and we’re seeing some visual similarities between the two cars. The way to tell a hybrid ES from its all-electric counterpart is by the extra upper grille section.

Lexus describes the cabin of the new 2026 ES as “simple and clean.” We’re aware that the word “minimalist” has been over-used in connection with electric vehicle interior designs because most car makers went down this path. In some cases, several years ago. But before we say “nothing to see here,” we’ll mention that the steering wheel now has &#8220;LEXUS&#8221; written in upper-case letters instead of the traditional L logo. And into this clutter-free context, the company has dropped 3D-printed simulated bamboo with ambient LED illumination, plus simulated suede and leather in places.
There’s a large glass area, so the new ES should feel even more spacious than its generous dimensions suggest. That also means great outward vision. The 12.3-inch instrument cluster is set low, contributing to the cabin’s open feel and, according to Lexus, enables smooth eye movement. The seats are set a little higher than before, no doubt because there’s now a battery in the floor, but it does have the happy result of easier entries and exits.

This is an all-new generation of the Lexus ES midsize luxury sedan. We’d also say radically new. Sporting a fresh design and different drivetrains, this latest ES does what no ES has done before — sparked a lot of interest.
Everyone will have their own opinions on the styling, so let’s get under the striking skin right away and say that <a href="https://www.kbb.com/lexus/">Lexus</a> has built this latest eighth-generation ES on a platform developed to accommodate hybrid or completely electric power. Which is exactly what the new ES offers.
Technology also moves forward with a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen (capable of split-screen displays), navigation set into the digital instrument cluster, and an improved ability to obey spoken commands.

Pricing - Static

The Lexus ES has a history of being relatively affordable yet also retaining its value well. Alternatives are much pricier. The <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/5-series/">BMW 5 Series</a> lineup includes the 550e xDrive plug-in hybrid, from about $75,000. There’s no hybrid <a href="https://www.kbb.com/genesis/g80/">Genesis G80</a> (yet), but the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/genesis/electrified-g80/">Electrified G80</a> should also start at around $75,000 — the same kind of ballpark as the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/mercedes-benz/mercedes-eq-eqe/">Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan</a>. The all-electric <a href="https://www.kbb.com/bmw/i5/">BMW i5</a> begins a little lower than these two. At its entry level, the 2026 ES 350h comes with a familiar hybrid drivetrain, pairing a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor to make 244 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is optional.
Lexus says the new ES 350e and ES 500e both have large-capacity batteries. We’ll say how large once that information comes through.
<h3>4-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
The new-car warranty from Lexus lasts four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first — the same terms as other luxury marques such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Powertrains are covered for six years or 70,000 miles, which is better than those German rivals. Hybrid components and EV batteries come with a typical 8-year/100,000-mile warranty. The first two services — at six months/5,000 miles and 12 months/10,000 miles &#8212; are complimentary.
<h3>Safety</h3>
The 2026 ES is the first vehicle to come with the newest Lexus Safety System+ 4.0. As well as usual features like emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control, this array may also include a partial self-driving system.

Power, Ride and Handling

The Lightning is surprisingly quick off the line, with a manufacturer-estimated zero-to-60 time as low as 3.8 seconds. That makes it one of the fastest models in the F-150 lineup, and is especially impressive considering this is not a lightweight pickup. That thrust comes courtesy of the 580-horsepower dual-motor extended-range powertrain, which powers all but the XLT trim, which comes standard with a 452-horsepower dual-motor setup. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard, with an electronic locking differential. Both powertrains deliver 775 lb-ft of torque.
Not only is the F-150 Lightning quick, but acceleration is smooth, predictable, and linear. And there is no shortage of power on reserve for passing on the highway. The one-pedal driving mode makes dealing with stop-and-go city traffic easier to deal with. On the highway, the optional BlueCruise hands- (and foot-) free system is very user-friendly and makes highway driving more pleasant.
No, there is no V8 rumble. That leaves the cabin especially quiet, with only minor road and wind noise sneaking in. The result of gobs of power on hand, a smooth ride, comfortable seats, and a quiet interior is a luxurious, serene drive. The only thing that could make it better is the Active Motion massaging seats in the Platinum trim.
<h3>Range and Charging</h3>
The Ford F-150 Lightning gets an <a href="https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/make.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EPA</a>-reported range of up to 320 miles with the extended-range battery and up to 240 miles with the standard battery. The Platinum trim, which comes standard with an extended battery, gets 300 miles of range. For comparison, the range of the Rivian R1T is between 258 and 420 miles, depending on the configuration, and the Chevrolet Silverado EV with extended-range battery is rated for up to 408 miles (492 in the Work Truck and LT).

Tough Functional Exterior

That F-150 family resemblance is strong here, too. If it weren’t for the telltale LED strip that flanks the headlights and runs along the edge of the frunk, you’d think it was a gas F-150. While there aren’t multiple bed and cab choices for the F-150 Lightning — every Lightning has a crew cab and a 5.5-foot bed — there are three wheel designs (18-, 20-, and 22-inch), an available twin-panel moonroof, and a choice of optional running boards. You can also get a power tailgate and a tailgate step. Exterior badging and chrome work vary depending on trim level.
Open the hood of the F-150 Lightning, and you’ll find a sizable “frunk” instead of an engine, with 14.1 cubic feet of room. For reference, that’s roughly the trunk size in the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/honda/civic/">Honda Civic</a>. Some clever features inside include power outlets, a cargo net, and a floor panel that can flip up vertically and act as a divider.

This feature controls the steering, throttle, and brakes to make light work of hitching up a trailer. It’s part of the Tow Technology package, optional in the lower trims, and standard in the upper versions.
Mega Power Frunk 
Yes, a frunk is to be expected on an electric truck. But the Mega Power Frunk, which is standard, has four 120-volt outlets. It also has a USB-C outlet and a USB-A outlet to keep your devices topped off. Oh, and did we mention it can carry pounds of payload?
Pro Power Onboard 
Whether you’re planning your next tailgate party or need to power tools at the job site, Pro Power Onboard adds even more plug-in power options &#8212; beyond those in the frunk &#8212; that can be found in the truck bed. Up to 11 outlets have up to 9.6 kW of available power.
SYNC 4A 
The SYNC 4A infotainment system in the F-150 Lightning comes standard with a 12-inch screen, and it’s available with a bigger 15.5-inch screen. Standard infotainment features include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Ford Co-Pilot360 
Standard safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring add safety and confidence to every drive.
BlueCruise 
The available <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/ford-expands-bluecruise-hands-free-options/">BlueCruise</a> semi-autonomous driving system allows for hands-free driving on highways mapped by <a href="https://www.kbb.com/ford/">Ford</a>. It covers over 130,000 miles of highway in North America.

Upscale, Practical Spacious Interior

What does the Lightning look like inside? There is no question this truck is a part of the F-150 family, which is evident the second you get behind the wheel. The cabin is spacious, with blocky accents on the dash and contrasting gray and black throughout. Seats are either cloth in the XLT, ActiveX leather alternative in the Flash Lariat, or premium Nirvana leather in the Platinum.
It has enough unique high-tech and convenience details to make the Lightning distinctive. For example, a 12-inch touchscreen comes standard, and a 15.5-inch screen is optional. The digital gauge cluster is reconfigurable to show range, steering angle, and more. Higher trim levels come standard with Ford’s clever interior work surface; fold down the transmission shifter and unfold the top of the center storage lid to create a handy work space.
Every F-150 Lightning has a crew cab body with 43.6 inches of rear legroom. Good news: That’s the same amount of space as the crew cab of the gas-powered F-150. It’s also quite a bit more space than the smaller Rivian R1T, which only has 36.6 inches of backseat legroom.

In many ways, the expectations of an electric truck’s performance are tougher than any other electric vehicle (EV) out there. It has to tow, go off-road, and still serve as a family ride on the weekends – everything people expect a gas-powered full-size truck to do. The Ford F-150 Lightning continues to be our <a href="https://www.kbb.com/awards/best-buy-awards-2025-ford-f-150-lightning-electric-truck/">top pick</a> in the electric truck segment because it is a well-rounded truck that exceeds expectations. It has much of the baked-in goodness of the F-150. It even shares the F-150’s styling. The F-150 Lightning has an impressive range, the lowest starting price in its class, and a terrific roster of features focused on work, safety, and convenience.
The Ford F-150 Lightning competes in a small class of electric pickup trucks that includes the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV, as well as the Rivian R1T and the Tesla Cybertruck. We also expect to see the all-electric Ram REV arrive at dealerships soon.
We’ve logged hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of <a href="https://www.kbb.com/electric-car/best-electric-trucks/">electric pickups</a>, including the Ford F-150 Lightning.

While the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning has the lowest starting price in its segment, remember that it is for the base Pro trim, which you can only build and price at Ford’s Ford Pro website. Realistically, the base model for consumers is the XLT trim. The good news is that it’s still the lowest price in the segment. In addition, the popular Lariat is a very well-equipped trim level that’s easy to recommend.
The F-150 Lightning’s closest rivals, the 2025 <a href="https://www.kbb.com/chevrolet/silverado-ev/">Chevrolet Silverado EV</a> and <a href="https://www.kbb.com/rivian/r1t/">Rivian R1T</a>, start above $70,000. The <a href="https://www.kbb.com/tesla/cybertruck/">Tesla Cybertruck</a> starts at over $80,000. And the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/gmc/sierra-ev/">GMC Sierra EV</a>, which is only available as the Denali for 2025, starts at over $90,000.

There are no major changes for 2025

A 98-kWh battery comes standard in the XLT trim, with 452 hp and 240 miles of range. An extended-range 131-kWh battery is standard in the Flash, Lariat, and Platinum models, with 580 hp and 320 miles of range. Both are backed by a single-speed transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard. The standard battery gets an EPA efficiency rating of 68 combined MPGe, and the extended-range battery gets up to 70 MPGe (66 MPGe in the Platinum trim).
According to EPA estimates, the monthly fuel costs of the F-150 Lightning are lower than the F-150 with the standard V6 engine and 4-wheel drive (4WD) by a factor of about $150/month. The Rivian R1T is slightly more efficient, but its estimated fuel costs are similar to the Lightning&#8217;s.
<h3>Towing and Payload</h3>
The F-150 Lightning boasts an impressive maximum tow rating of up to 10,000 pounds and a max payload capacity of 2,000 pounds, but a word of caution is in order. Third-party tests have shown that towing makes a drastic impact on range. According to real-world testing, the F-150 Lightning Platinum with a full charge only gets about 100 miles of range when pulling a camper weighing around 5,000 pounds.
<h3>3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty</h3>
Like its gas-powered counterpart, the Ford F-150 Lightning is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. Additionally, the battery is covered by an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty. This coverage is about typical for a mainstream-brand EV.

The Ford F-150 Lightning comes standard with the Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 safety tech suite, which bundles features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, rear parking sensors, and more. Hands-free highway driving is available with the optional BlueCruise feature. The Lightning earned a 5-Star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (<a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/ratings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NHTSA</a>).

While the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning is mostly a carryover, there are some notable minor changes. The NACS adapter and cord now come standard, rather than as an added cost. Instead of a standard spare tire, a tire inflator and sealant kit are standard, and the spare is an available option. In the color palette, Space White replaces Avalanche. The biggest loss is that the smart hitch and onboard scales were discontinued for the entire F-150 lineup for 2025.

The 2025 Mini Hardtop 4 Door is powered by a turbocharged 161-horsepower 4-cylinder engine matched with a 7-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The models with “S” in the name get a performance upgrade to 201 hp, plus way more torque. The base engine scoots this little car around just fine, but we think the S model is worth the slight price premium to unlock the Mini’s fun potential.
Regardless of the engine, the Mini Hardtop 4 Door handled beautifully in <a href="https://www.kbb.com/car-news/driving-the-2025-mini-cooper-hardtop/">our testing</a>, thanks to its small footprint and wheels stretched out to the corners. These qualities also make it a pleasure to drive on city streets, weaving through traffic and parking just about wherever you want with ease.
Every Mini is a great city car, but the longer wheelbase of the 4 Door model makes this a slightly comfier highway cruiser than the shorter 2 Door model. Speaking of comfort, we know those 18-inch wheel options are fabulous, but they make the ride quality a little harsher than the 17-inch wheels.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The Mini Cooper 4 Door has the same fuel economy ratings as the 2 Door. It returns 28 city/39 highway/32 combined mpg, regardless of the trim. That’s a little less efficient than the Nissan Versa, which doesn’t come with turbocharged performance.
Subcompact hatchbacks are supposed to have low fuel costs. Although the Mini is reasonably fuel-efficient, its premium gas recommendation makes it surprisingly expensive to fuel up for such a small car. Since the base model and the sportier S trim have identical fuel economy ratings, you might as well get the excitement of the Cooper S if it fits your budget.

Iconic Exterior

Mini did an excellent job giving the Mini Cooper a 4-door body while keeping it appropriately small. It’s just big enough to be measurably roomier and more practical than its traditional 2-door counterpart, but it retains subcompact dimensions. Then, of course, there’s the disarming cuteness of the Mini Cooper, with one of the finest executions we’ve seen of a retro/modern design. The Mini is also highly customizable; it’s the only car we know of that’s available with a gradient purple contrast roof.
The adorable and properly small Mini Cooper is a breath of fresh air in an automotive landscape flooded with SUVs.

Lively S model 
The Mini Cooper S delivers the exciting driving character we’ve come to associate with the Mini brand. With lithe handling, 201 hp, and a claimed zero-to-60 mph time of 6.7 seconds, the Cooper S is as fun to drive as it is to look at.
Standout style 
Just look at it. The Mini Cooper has a distinctly British aesthetic instantly recognizable from any angle. That’s a face you’ll never get tired of seeing in your garage.
Extra space 
With an extra 1.5 inches of rear legroom and 47% more cargo room behind the back seats than the Mini 2 Door, this 4 Door model is decidedly more practical without compromising its charm.
Panoramic roof 
The Mini’s characteristically flat roof lets in a lot of natural light with its panoramic sunroof, a standard feature that adds to the premium feel of this hatchback.
9.4-inch OLED display 
A round 9.4-inch OLED display delivers the information you need and handles duties like climate control. You can customize it to suit your mood with different themes, from showy to subtle.

The dashboard’s dominant feature, however, is a circular OLED infotainment touchscreen with a 9.4-inch diameter. This customizable screen is full of different themes that can change according to the drive mode.
The rear seats are usable, with 32.3 inches of legroom. Predictably, that’s more rear legroom than the 2-door Mini but less than the Mini Countryman SUV. Thanks to the boxy shape of the Mini, it has decent cargo space for such a small car. The 4-door Mini has 13.1 cubic feet of space behind the back seats, which is 47% more than the 2-door. Fold down the back seats, and you get a fairly huge 40-cubic-foot cargo hold.

The Mini Hardtop 4 Door is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine available in two different tunings. The base engine produces 161 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, good for a 7.9-second zero-to-60 mph time. Meanwhile, the Cooper S models pump out 201 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque for a 6.7-second zero-to-60 mph time. Since they have the same fuel economy ratings, the Cooper S is easy to recommend if your budget allows it.
Every Mini Cooper has a 7-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Sorry, no manual. If you like the idea of a Mini with all-wheel drive, consider the Countryman SUV.

What's new for 2025

The Mini is fully redesigned for 2025. For starters, the “Mini Cooper” name is back after years of confusing model names like “Hatch” and “Hardtop.” The exterior is refreshed with a new take on the Union Jack-inspired taillight design, but don’t worry. The headlights are still round, and the roof still has the approximate height and flatness of a coffee table.
The interior gets a more significant redesign. A large, round infotainment display is the centerpiece of the new interior, which can change significantly based on the drive mode and your personal preferences. Mini struck a just-right balance of retro and modern, inside and out, with the redesigned Mini Cooper.
We can usually find it in our hearts to forgive automakers for discontinuing a manual transmission option, but the old-school stick shift was especially fitting in the go-kart-like Mini. Unfortunately, the redesigned 2025 Mini Cooper is automatic only.

In our testing, we’ve found the Kia EV6 is enjoyable enough, surprisingly exciting, or downright audacious. It all depends on which <a href="https://www.kbb.com/compare-cars/results?vehicleIds=476505|476519|476514|476531">trim level</a> you get or, more precisely, which power output and drive configuration you order it in. We’d skip the base EV6 Light RWD model, which has only 167 horsepower and takes over eight seconds to reach 60 mph. That isn’t slow, but it sure isn’t fast, especially for an EV. Stepping up just one trim to the new EV6 Light Long Range RWD rectifies that with a larger battery pack and 225 hp, which enables the zero-to-60-mph scoot in 7.3 seconds. If you opt for all-wheel drive (AWD), you get a second motor, 320 total hp, and a seriously exciting trip to 60 in just five seconds flat.
And then there is the Kia EV6 GT – the monster of the group that has become even more monstrous this year. The 2025 EV6 GT now makes 601 hp, which stretches to 641 hp in Launch Mode. Torque numbers are 545 lb-ft/568 lb-ft, respectively. Combined with standard all-wheel drive, this fastest of EV6 models leaps to 60 mph in a blistering 3.4 seconds — faster than some Lamborghini models. New this year, the EV6 GT adds virtual sounds and the sense of shifting gears to the fun via the Virtual Gear Shift. We first experienced these tricks in the similar Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, and we must admit to enjoying the sensation.
Beyond and perhaps regardless of the numbers, we’ve found the Kia EV6 perfectly enjoyable to drive. It has composure and poise, yet is comfortable enough for most drivers. The steering feel is also precise and well-weighted, while the brakes are direct and inspire confidence, even with four levels of regeneration. Speaking of stopping, we love that the Kia EV6 has one-pedal driving. This feature allows the vehicle to come to a complete stop simply by lifting off the accelerator pedal. It might feel odd the first day you use it, but then you’ll never want to return to “normal” driving again. Of course, even with one-pedal mode activated, the brake pedal still functions as normal, too.
For 2025, Kia EV6 models with the 84-kWh battery can tow up to 2,700 pounds, an increase of 400 pounds.
<h3>Range and Charging</h3>
The 2025 Kia EV6 electric SUV offers two sizes of battery packs, one or two motors, and various power levels, all of which affect its range and efficiency. Thanks to battery enhancements for 2025, the least-expensive Light RWD has a range of 237 miles between charges. The Light Long Range AWD and Wind AWD are rated to travel up to 295 miles, while the GT-Line AWD does 270. The most powerful EV6, the GT, has the least range at 231 miles.
The Light Long Range RWD, Wind RWD, and GT-Line RWD get up to 319 miles between charges, the most of the lineup. At its 319 number, the EV6 is the same as the Chevrolet Equinox EV, nearly the same as the Mustang Mach-E with up to 320 miles, and just edges the Hyundai Ioniq 5 with its 318 miles. Meanwhile, the Nissan Ariya is EPA-rated at 289 miles, and the Tesla Model Y boasts up to 337.
Charging times vary widely depending on what’s juicing up the battery. At its fastest on a public Level 3 DC fast charger, the EV6 can go from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes under the best conditions. More common sources will be Level 2 chargers, like a 240-volt in-home unit, that can recharge the EV6 in around seven hours. For 2025, the Kia EV6 is compatible with the North American Charging Standard (NACS), so it can charge at Tesla Supercharger stations.

Daring Exterior

The Kia EV6 has one of the most distinctive designs we’ve seen in recent years. It’s hard to categorize, but it sure is alluring. In the pursuit of optimum aerodynamic efficiency, the door handles of the 2025 EV6 are flush to the body and pop out automatically.
Looking at this wind-cheating body shape, potential buyers of a new EV6 electric vehicle will have to decide for themselves whether it’s an SUV or a hatchback with a higher-than-usual ride height. This slightly elevated stance makes room for the floor-mounted battery. Either way, we think there are plenty of features to delight the eyes, such as the various alloy wheel designs and how the taillight snakes around from one rear fender to the other. The GT-Line and GT also come with a powered wide-panel sunroof.
Thanks to the minor tweaks to the front and rear fascias for 2025, the Kia EV6 is slightly longer, with overall length increasing by 0.6 inches to 184.8 inches overall. For all but the GT trim, the charging port has been repositioned to the left rear fender for 2025.

800-volt fast charging 
This is pretty much the cutting edge of charging tech. DC fast chargers allow EV batteries to add about 70 miles of range in less than five minutes. The 2025 EV6 is capable of going from 10% capacity up to 80% in 18 minutes.
Vehicle to Load (V2L) 
As well as providing energy for the electric motor(s) in the 2025 EV6, the battery pack also has an outlet to power various appliances and even act as a backup in the event of a power outage at home.
Meridian audio 
This is a well-respected name among audiophiles. Meridian setups are also found in Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Wind, GT-Line, and GT models get this 14-speaker system as standard.
Wireless phone charging 
Place a compatible smartphone on the pad in the center console, and recharging happens automatically. It’s standard in every 2025 EV6 and just a great little convenience feature.
Heat pump 
It’s not the most exciting feature, but one worth having. It captures heat from the drivetrain and directs it into the cabin — even to the battery when required, enhancing energy efficiency. It’s standard in AWD models.
Remote Smart Parking Assist 
The driver can control the 2025 EV6 from outside the car, using buttons on the key fob to ease the vehicle into or out of tight parking spaces. This is optional in Wind trim and standard in the GT-Line and GT.

Tech-Forward Interior

The Kia EV6’s cabin feels futuristic, and it certainly has the kind of innovation this Kia’s exterior advertises. This Kia’s interior also stands apart from the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Though these two models are similar beneath the skin, their designs showcase each one’s aesthetics. Where the Ioniq 5 is more open and airy, the EV6 feels more driver-focused and intimate. A big reason for this is due to the wide center console that separates the front seats. In the Hyundai, that space is open. Which do you prefer? In the Kia, that console houses essential functions such as the start/stop button and a rotary dial that puts the vehicle into drive, reverse, park, etc.
Then there’s the ample tech. Dual 12.3-inch screens – one in the center for infotainment duties, the other in front of the driver acting as an instrument cluster – are straight out of a luxury vehicle. As with other EVs, this Kia uses recycled materials for fabrics and the like, and no animal products are used in the manufacture of the simulated leather seating surfaces. That doesn’t mean they feel cheap, however. We think the level of quality throughout the cabin as a whole is impressive.
Thanks to a platform designed especially for electric vehicles, the EV6 has a flat floor and plenty of interior room for a 5-seater. Rear passenger space is maximized by a long wheelbase (longer than the bigger Kia Telluride’s, even) and special front seats that have a slimmer back than a typical example, made possible by a thin frame of ultra-light steel. The GT comes with model-specific lightweight front sport seats that are manually operated. If that sounds uncomfortable, fear not, they’re fine. They hold their occupants nicely in place when taking fast corners.
The rear seats also recline and fold and split in a 60/40 fashion. Luggage space is 24.4 cubic feet, which can expand to 46.7 cubic feet with both rear seats folded. In this respect, we see the results of the EV6’s sleek and sloping exterior design. The blockier Hyundai Ioniq 5, by comparison, has 27.2/59.3 cubic feet. The Tesla Model Y, meanwhile, touts 76 cubic feet of cargo space. The EV6 also has a little storage area under the hood, in what’s known as the frunk (front trunk).

In the nascent field of electric SUVs, where just about every model stands out, the 2025 Kia EV6 stands out even more. Just look at its sleek yet captivating design, range of over 300 miles, power figures that max out over 600 horsepower, ultra-fast charging, and advanced safety and tech features. Then there’s that unbeatable Kia warranty that covers the powertrain for 10 years/100,000 miles.

Battery and Efficiency

The 2025 Kia EV6 Light RWD is the only model to use the 63-kWh battery pack. It returns 115 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) combined. All other EV6 variants use an 84-kWh battery pack with an estimated up to 114 MPGe combined for rear-wheel drive and 106 MPGe for all-wheel drive. The GT-Line AWD is lower at 97 MPGe, and the performance-focused GT is lower still at 83 MPGe.
5-Year/60,000-Mile Warranty
Kia has some of the best warranties among mainstream car companies (along with sister company Hyundai). The basic new-car coverage on a 2025 EV6 is five years or 60,000 miles, whichever happens first. That’s a couple of years or another 24,000 miles more than typical. It’s a similar story with the drivetrain warranty — Kia’s is for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
Safety
This generation of Kia EV6 nabbed the coveted Top Safety Pick+ status from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (<a href="https://www.iihs.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IIHS</a>). The 2025 model is still being evaluated using the agency’s new testing protocol. However, it did receive the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (<a href="https://www.nhtsa.gov/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NHTSA</a>) highest 5-Star overall rating.

All versions of the 2025 Kia EV6 benefit from a larger battery pack that enables longer range, minor design updates to the front and rear, and new wheel designs. The 2026 Toyota Crown is powered by a 236-horsepower hybrid 4-cylinder powertrain matched with a CVT automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD). It’s upgradable to a punchy turbocharged Hybrid MAX setup that produces 340 horsepower. The tradeoff is simple: the base powertrain is more affordable and efficient, albeit slower, while the Hybrid MAX is more performance-oriented and less efficient.
Regardless of the powertrain, the Toyota Crown drives like a dream. Being the big sedan that it is, it floats over the road in smooth and serene comfort. When we tested the Crown, its good driving manners and hushed cabin reminded us of pricier Lexus hybrids. From daily errand running to highway cruising, the Crown is a comfortable way to get around.
The Crown even handled better than we expected when putting it through its paces on twisty roads. Toyota’s Active Cornering Assist (ACA) system delivers sure-footed handling in quick turns by applying subtle braking to whichever wheel needs it. Opting for the Platinum trim adds an Adaptive Variable Suspension system that can transform from firm and sporty to soft and comfy.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The 2026 Toyota Crown boasts a fantastic fuel economy rating of 42 city/41 highway/41 combined mpg, and it can go almost 600 miles on a full tank of gas. And remember, that’s with standard AWD. Upgrading to the sportier Hybrid MAX powertrain drops those numbers to 29 city/32 highway/30 combined mpg. According to EPA estimates, the monthly fuel cost of the Hybrid MAX is about $33 more than the base powertrain.

Distinct Exterior

The Toyota Crown doesn’t look quite like anything else on the road. It’s ostensibly a sedan but has SUV-like ride height and a sloping, coupe-like roofline. However, it’s still a car with four doors and a trunk, so it’s a sedan. It looks especially distinct when optioned with one of the available two-tone paint jobs.

Two hybrid powertrains 
The standard powertrain in the Toyota Crown returns over 40 mpg both in the city and on the highway. For those craving stronger performance but still wanting hybrid efficiency, the Hybrid MAX powertrain pumps out 340 horsepower while keeping fuel costs below the average for a new car.
Standard AWD 
Every Toyota Crown comes standard with all-wheel drive. This upscale sedan has no delusions about being an off-roader. Still, the all-wheel-drive system delivers confident traction on slippery roads and satisfying grip when turning on dry pavement.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 
This advanced suite of safety technologies bundles automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane centering, road sign assist, and Toyota’s Proactive Driving Assist, which can gently apply brakes and steering based on the traffic around you.
Wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay 
Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard in every Toyota Crown. These connectivity features allow you to effortlessly stream music, maps, and more to the screen in your car without taking your phone out of your pocket or purse.
Standard leather seats 
The Toyota Crown XLE isn’t your average base-level Toyota. The most affordable trim of this hybrid is packed with desirable features like leather seats (heated and ventilated in front), 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, and the aforementioned safety and smartphone connectivity features.
Platinum trim 
The top Platinum trim truly gives more expensive luxury sedans a run for their money. Just a few features include the powerful Hybrid MAX powertrain, an adaptive suspension system, a hands-free power trunk, JBL audio, a 360-degree camera, and available bi-tone exterior color options.

Upscale interior

Interior quality and comfort are highlights of the Toyota Crown. Remove the <a href="https://www.kbb.com/toyota/">Toyota</a> badges, and we could be convinced we were sitting in a Lexus the first time we got behind the wheel of this upscale sedan.
With accommodations for five, the Crown’s cabin is simple yet sophisticated. Twin 12.3-inch screens dominate the dash. One is in the center for infotainment duties, and the other is a digital instrument cluster. This kind of setup is becoming the norm, and it’s presented well here in the Crown.
There are just enough physical buttons for controlling climate, audio, and other functions without being untidy. You can also simply give a command by saying something like, “Hey, Toyota, set the temperature to 70 degrees.” Such voice command systems are also proliferating; we’ve found that Toyota’s system works remarkably well.
We tested out the Crown as a real-world family vehicle and can confirm that three kids can comfortably fit in the back seats. But it’s not just for kids; the back seats have 38.9 inches of adult-friendly legroom. The one minor downside we found in this respect is rear headroom. At 37.5 inches, it might feel a little tight for taller types. That said, the Camry only has another half an inch.
One other tiny gripe is that the trunk has 15.2 cubic feet of space. That’s roomy enough for groceries, but it’s less trunk space than the Toyota Avalon that the Crown replaced and about the same size as the trunk of the Camry, which is a smaller, more affordable, more efficient hybrid.

In an automotive world where big sedans from mainstream brands have all but vanished, the Toyota Crown is in a class of its own. As the largest and priciest sedan in the Toyota lineup, it serves up <a href="https://www.kbb.com/lexus/">Lexus</a>-like levels of luxury and even lively performance when optioned with the available 340-hp Hybrid MAX powertrain. Meanwhile, the subtler standard hybrid powertrain returns up to 41 combined mpg. Toyota’s new vehicle warranty lasts three years or 36,000 miles, whichever happens first. Powertrains are covered for five years or 60,000 miles, which is typical among mainstream manufacturers. Hybrid components have a warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles, and the hybrid battery is protected for 10 years or 150,000 miles. Toyota also includes two years or 25,000 miles of free scheduled maintenance, plus two years of roadside assistance with unlimited mileage.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is America’s most affordable 3-row SUV, and its great warranty and impressive fuel economy add to its value proposition.

The 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander is powered by a 181-horsepower 4-cylinder engine matched with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT)and front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). On paper, its performance is about on par with the base engine of the Kia Sorento, but a much stronger turbo engine is optional in the Sorento and standard in the Hyundai Santa Fe.
Although the middling horsepower, less-than-responsive transmission, and light steering make the Outlander a bit anemic, we were pleasantly surprised by the ride quality’s refinement in our testing. A plush suspension and muted cabin noise almost made us forget that the Outlander is one of the cheapest cars in its class.
<h3>Fuel Economy</h3>
The 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander returns 27 combined mpg with front-wheel drive and 26 mpg with all-wheel drive. These ratings are slightly better than the base engines in the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, but both of those rivals have conventional hybrid options that get up to 36 combined mpg. Meanwhile, the Outlander PHEV goes up to 38 miles on electricity alone and returns 26 mpg with a depleted battery.

Handsome Exterior

The current Outlander SUV has more presence and attitude than its predecessor. In the past, that third row might have been the main reason for choosing an Outlander. Nowadays, the design might also have some sway. Some slight styling tweaks for 2025 help to keep it fresh.

All-wheel drive 
Mitsubishi calls it Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC), but most of us tend to know it as all-wheel drive, providing the usual extra confidence during bad weather. It has selectable modes of Tarmac, Gravel, Snow, Normal, Eco, and Mud. The difference between Tarmac and Normal is that the former is like a Sport setting.
Apple CarPlay/Android Auto 
We all expect phone integration to be standard in new vehicles these days. It is in the 2025 Outlander, and it works wirelessly in every trim.
Standard Yamaha audio 
Premium sound is usually reserved for upper trims, but in 2025, every Outlander comes with a Yamaha audio system. The base ES trim has an 8-speaker setup, while every other trim has a more powerful 12-speaker system.
Powered tailgate 
A power-operated tailgate (with adjustable opening heights) is simply a great convenience feature, which becomes standard in the SE.
12.3-inch digital instrument cluster 
This configurable driver information display becomes available in the SE’s Tech package. It can show the usual things like road and engine speeds, plus navigation directions.
Head-up display 
Taking driver-oriented tech further, the head-up display projects information into the windshield, reducing those fractions of seconds spent not looking at the road. This is part of the SEL’s Touring package.

3-Row Interior

We’re pleased to report that the Outlander 3-row SUV’s interior is uncluttered and made of high-quality materials. Pricier versions can be almost luxurious, offering semi-aniline leather with diamond-patterned stitching for the seats and door panels.
The good news for families who can benefit from extra seats is that the Mitsubishi Outlander has standard 3-row seating for up to seven. The bad news is that the third row is tiny, fit exclusively for children and the vertically challenged. There are only 18.7 inches of third-row legroom, considerably less than the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, which have about 30 inches of legroom in the way back.
However, if you’ll have the third row folded down most of the time, the Outlander has a decent-sized cargo hold with 30.6 cubic feet of room. There’s 10.9 cubic feet of room behind the third row and a whopping 64.3 cubic feet when all rear seats are folded down. Again, its closest rivals from Kia and Hyundai have more cargo room by virtue of being larger vehicles.

Falling somewhere between compact and midsize SUVs, the Mitsubishi Outlander has the distinction of being America’s most affordable new car with three rows of seats. Its affordable pricing and 3-row versatility make it a strong value proposition for frugal families, and its long warranty coverage and thrifty fuel economy enhance that value factor. It can even get pretty nice in the upper trims if your budget allows it. If a bigger midsize SUV is too pricey and a 2-row compact SUV is too small, the Mitsubishi Outlander is your Goldilocks.

But we encourage shoppers not to overrate that perk — there isn’t much maintenance in the first two years of car ownership. It covers a maximum of three oil changes, three tire rotations, and one cabin filter.
