Volvo Recalls Vehicles Over Loose Door Latch

Volvo has recalled 2,758 model year 2017 S60L sedans due to a defective door latch that may loosen over time if exposed to extreme heat.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that “When exposed to extreme hot climate conditions for a long time, the latch will weaken and may break off when the door opens.” If the latch breaks, there is also a risk that the door may open while driving.

The latch might be defective if you notice that the door on your vehicle is difficult to shut. The instrument cluster will also display an open-door warning when the door is not properly latched.

Volvo dealers will fix this issue by replacing all four latches in both the front and rear doors with new ones. This service is free, like all recall repairs.

Owners with affected vehicles will receive a notification by mail with more details. Volvo began mailing letters on February 23, 2026.

Millions of cars are recalled, sometimes more than once. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone.
