Volvo has recalled 413,151 vehicles from various model years due to technical issues with their backup cameras. Some of these models include, but are not limited to:
- 2022-2024 Volvo C40
- 2021-2025 Volvo XC40
- 2023-2025 Volvo XC90
- 2022-2025 Volvo XC60
- 2022-2025 Volvo V90 Cross Country
- 2023-2025 Volvo S60
Volvo reports to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that, on affected vehicles, “The rearview camera image does not show during the start of each backing event.” This reduces the driver’s rear visibility and, in extreme cases, can lead to a crash.
Keep in mind that if your vehicle has park assist warning, rear automatic braking, or cross-traffic alerts, these will still be functional and can automatically stop your car if an object is detected.
Dealers will resolve this issue with a new software update scheduled for release at the end of the first quarter this year. You can visit any Volvo dealership to get the updated software installed in your vehicle.
This service is free of charge, as recall repairs always are.
While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone. To check whether your vehicle might be subject to a recall, use the easy tool at our recall center. All you need is your VIN number, license plate, or year, make, and model of your car to get started.
