Volvo Joins the Dark Side: 2022 S60 Black Edition

Nearly every automaker offers packages of blacked-out trim and darkened interior bits this year. With names like Nightshade Edition (Toyota) or Midnight Edition (Nissan), they’ve proven popular because they add a little style to otherwise conventional models.

Volvo was one of the last automakers holding out against the blacked-out trend. No more.

For 2022, the Swedish automaker will offer a limited number of Black Edition models of its S60 midsize sedan. Volvo will build just 450, but will offer it on the Momentum, R-Design, and Recharge (PHEV) versions of the S60.

The package includes high-gloss black 19-inch wheels, as well as a blacked-out grille, grille slash, Volvo badge, and window trim. The tailpipes are darkened as well. There appear to be no interior changes.

Buyers can order the package with Onyx Black Metallic or Crystal White Metallic paint.

It adds $700 to the MSRP of any S60, which starts at $39,250.
