All eyes will be on Volkswagen as it debuts the all-new 2027 Atlas at next week’s New York International Auto Show. To tide us over, Volkswagen released a couple of sneak peeks that feature the exterior and interior.

The first image released on March 12 teased the rear exterior. Volkswagen said in a release, “It will feature muscular proportions and sleeker exterior surfacing” as well as “all-new sheetmetal.” The image shows a bright red taillight strip curving along the SUV’s exterior. A seam in the light pattern likely marks the outline of the rear hatch. The VW logo seems to glow at the rear of the vehicle.

On March 19, Volkswagen teased an interior shot. Volkswagen describes its all-new Atlas interior as “more premium and more modern, yet unmistakably Atlas” in a release. The image definitely conveys more mood lighting. Illuminated green lights create a cosmic feel, dotting what could be a passenger screen and the passenger door. Blue and green ambient lighting glow in strips above the glove compartment and on the door. Volkswagen teases a completely redesigned interior, so we can’t wait to see what other additions have been made.
Some burning questions remain. Will this new Atlas have a hybrid version? An EV? Will all the trim levels remain? Will it have a volume knob? Our experts praise the Atlas for its premium look and feel, so hopefully the newer model can capture or best its current sophistication.
