Toyota has been slowly teasing a big reveal, and the company has put a date on when the hints will pay off.
Last week, we got a shadowy exterior photo that appeared to show an SUV, with no details at all. This week, the company showed off the interior in a better-lit photo and promised details on Feb. 10.
That, and the details of the photo, have us further convinced that we know what’s coming.
The photo shows the cabin of a 3-row SUV with a huge panoramic roof and second-row captain’s chairs. That strongly hints that what we’re looking at is the next generation of the aging Highlander.
Toyota has invited journalists to test-drive a pair of electric cars next week and has timed this reveal so it could appear at the same event. The company has a longstanding practice of dropping surprise reveals at media events. That suggests that a long-held industry rumor – that the next Highlander will be all-electric – could prove true very soon.
We’ll bring more next week.
