Ford Recalls Bronco SUVs for Drive Failure

Ford has recalled 4,922 Bronco SUVs from model years 2021-2025 because they can lose drive power and roll away when parked.

The company tells federal safety regulators that, “During a prior service repair, the joint between the transmission and transfer case was misaligned when the transmission was reassembled.” The misaligned joint can wear away, leaving the transmission unable to pass engine power to the axles or stop them from moving when in Park mode.

Owners may notice grinding noises from the transmission as the problem develops.

The company knows of no accidents or injuries, but at least 25 warranty claims related to the problem.

Dealers will inspect the transmission and transfer case and replace them if necessary to fix the problem.

Recall repairs are always free.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely get them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
