Toyota has announced a recall affecting approximately 443,000 Tundra pickups from model years 2022-2025. Moisture can get into the trucks’ reverse lights and short out connections.
Without functioning reverse lights, other vehicles might not realize a Tundra is backing up. Toyota also warns that “the driver’s view to the rear can be limited” without the lights. That could trigger an accident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not yet published the recall. However, Toyota frequently announces safety actions before the government.
Dealers will replace the reverse lamps with an improved design to fix the issue. They’ll also inspect wiring for corrosion and replace it if necessary.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely get them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
