Toyota and Lexus issued a recall of 617 vehicles due to problems with the front steering knuckles. A batch of the forged aluminum knuckles were produced without completing the production process. The result is a weaker knuckle that can fracture at the attachment point with the strut or tie rod upon impact. If a fracture occurs, steering control can be lost.
The following vehicles are affected:
- 2026 Lexus TX 350
- 2026 Lexus RX 350h
- 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander
- 2026 Lexus RX 500h
- 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid
- 2026 Lexus RX 350
- 2026 Lexus TX 500h
According to the NHTSA report, “This issue affects vehicles that are equipped with front steering knuckles from a specific production batch from a specific supplier. Other Toyota or Lexus vehicles sold in the U.S. are not equipped with these front steering knuckles.” Currently, there are no warranty claims or field reports from the U.S. that relate to this issue.
Owners will be notified to return their vehicle to a Toyota or Lexus dealer. An inspection will be done on the front steering knuckles to determine if they’re part of the affected batch. The affected steering knuckles will be replaced free of charge.
