Toyota Dear Qin Concept

Earlier this month, Toyota announced a major rethink of its vehicle design and development programs aimed at cutting costs and reducing platform count while elevating both the visual character and dynamic capabilities of its upcoming products. The first tangible hint of what that effort, formally dubbed Toyota New Global Architecture, will yield is on display in Beijing in the form of the Toyota Dear Qin concepts.

Referred to as "Global Strategic Concepts," the compact sedan and hatchback reportedly give a hint as to the kind of styling that will be seen on a new generation, front-drive model that will come to market sometime in 2013. It’s hard to assess exactly how much of their design elements will actually make it to the showroom unchanged, but there’s no doubt the bold lines and dramatic lighting treatments live up to the automaker’s promise of creating vehicles that embody "never-before-seen emotional designs."
