Ninety-four Toyota 4Runner SUVs from model year 2026 are being recalled due to incorrect labeling of the vehicle’s load-carrying capacity. Affected vehicles consist of certain versions equipped with an all-terrain tire upgrade that comes on the Blackout Off-Road package.
Gulf States Toyota (GST), the distributor that installs this package, did not provide accurate weight values on the load-carrying capacity label due to a system error. The current label indicates that the vehicle may be capable of carrying more weight than its actual capacity.
This issue indicates noncompliance with federal motor vehicle safety standards.
GST will notify affected owners by mail. The letter will include a replacement label with the correct weight and application instructions. Toyota dealers will also provide this new label to customers with affected vehicles at no charge.
Owners should begin receiving letters starting June 22, 2026.
Millions of cars are recalled, sometimes more than once. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone.
To check whether your vehicle might be subject to a recall, use the easy tool at our recall center. All you need is your vehicle identification number (VIN), license plate, or year, make, and model of your car to get started.
