Tesla Recalls Model 3, Y Over Power Loss

The Tesla Model Y in red seen in profile

Tesla recalled 12,963 Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles (EVs) from model year 2025 for the Model 3 and 2026 for the Model Y because they can lose all battery power.

Tesla tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that batteries used on specific dates may have solenoids that can fail, leaving the cars immobile.

Tesla will replace the defective parts to fix the problem.

The company knows of at least 36 warranty claims and 26 failures in the field, but no accidents or injuries related to the issue.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.

Manufacturers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Discover if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
