If you’re into chassis codes and model anniversaries, then Subaru has two limited-edition models for you. The 2027 Subaru WRX GD25 and 2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15 debuted this week as callbacks to the past, with modified sports cars angling into the near future.
Both models come with performance accessories and 6-speed manual transmissions. They go on sale next year only in North America, and the alphanumeric names of each celebrate the anniversary of when the cars were first launched in the U.S. and the chassis codes that enthusiasts toss around as if they were their kids’ names.
“The WRX GD25 is a tribute to our rally-ready sedan and its sports car pedigree, including the wing it shares with the ARA Championship-winning ARA25L,” William Stokes, Car Line Planning manager for Subaru of America, said in a statement. “Similarly, BRZ ZC15 embodies the best of our long-running, accessible performance sports car, right down to its rear wheel-drive engagement.”
2027 Subaru WRX GD25
Celebrating 25 years in the U.S., the WRX GD25 fuels rally car fantasies with its World Rally Blue coat and gold-colored 19-inch alloy wheels. Within the wheels are gold-colored Brembo brake calipers, and a set of Bridgestone Potenza S007 performance tires wraps around the package.
Perhaps more noticeable than the bling blang shoes is the giant carbon fiber wing affixed to the back, similar to famed Subie racer Travis Pastrana’s WRX rally car. Under the skin, stiffer springs and a flexible front strut tower bar promise more rigidity for greater stability while cornering.
A 271-horsepower, 2.4-liter turbocharged flat-4 engine and 6-speed manual with a short shifter powers all four wheels for standard all-wheel drive (AWD).
Interior accents include red accent stitching on bolstered Recaro performance seats.
It’s limited to 350 units and goes on sale next summer. Expect a price upgrade from other limited edition runs of the 2026 Subaru WRX, such as the $47,190 WRX Series.Yellow.
2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15
The only Subaru without standard AWD, the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Subaru BRZ ZC15 coupe stands out from the standard Subara BRZ and related Toyota GR86 with exterior and interior enhancements.
A Ceramic White paint exclusive to the ZC15 contrasts bronze wheels with the same gold Brembo brake calipers as the WRX GD25. Even though the BRZ launched in the U.S. in 2012, this rare color combo matches the limited-edition 2020 BRZ tS.
A black rear spoiler tops the trunk and, inside, the BRZ ZC15 gets exclusive leather upholstery with red inserts and all the badging, of course.
Limited to 300 units, the 2027 BRZ ZC15 goes on sale in April 2027. Expect it to crest the $40,015 of the current BRZ tS.
