- The Subaru Forester and Forester Hybrid see their prices drop for 2026.
Subaru has announced price reductions for the 2026 Forester and Forester Hybrid models, citing a desire to address consumer affordability concerns.
The Forester, a hallmark of Subaru’s lineup, has been a staple for over 30 years. It was all new for 2025, with new cabin tech and impressive visibility, so Subaru has made few changes for 2026. Its 180-horsepower 4-cylinder engine trails some more powerful rivals. But standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and strong safety scores make it an appealing choice for many.
The gas-powered version keeps its base price the same for the new model year, but sees price cuts at higher trims. Even the base price of the hybrid sees a cut.
While not the lowest-priced option in the hybrid compact SUV space, it hovers around the middle of the pack.
While the hybrid version is relatively new, like 2025 new, it carries over familiar Subaru features while offering a more environmentally conscious, fuel-efficient hybrid.
Subaru continues to carve out a niche in the hybrid SUV race. The Subaru Forester Hybrid uses a next-generation series-parallel hybrid system that improves fuel economy by up to 40% compared to the non-hybrid model, delivering 194 total hp with standard Symmetrical all-wheel drive (AWD). Its 2.5-liter SUBARU boxer engine, paired with electric motors and a continuously-variable automatic transmission (CVT). It delivers an EPA-rated range of 581 miles per tank.
Forester Hybrid models are equipped with a tablet-style 11.6-inch Multimedia Navigation system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, plus a 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster.
All Hybrid Foresters feature Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology and the DriverFocus distraction-mitigation system. This includes adaptive cruise control with lane centering, lane departure and sway warning, and pre-collision braking.
