Rivian Recalls R1S and R1T Over Suspension Issue

A Rivian R1S SUV driving on the road

Rivian has recalled 7,031 R1S SUVs and 12,610 R1T trucks from model year 2022 to 2025. These vehicles may have received service resulting in a joint not being reassembled properly. A repair requiring the separation and reassembly of a rear suspension toe link joint began on April 1, 2022. This repair was done using an older service procedure and ended on March 10, 2025.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Safety Recall Report, “In certain cases, if a toe link was serviced using the earlier service procedure, vehicle motion may eventually cause toe link joint separation. Separation of the toe link while the vehicle is being driven increases the risk of a crash without prior warning.”

Rivian is aware of one vehicle crash purportedly resulting in minor injuries related to this issue. The automaker will repair any potentially affected rear toe link bolts using its updated service procedure.
