- The base R1 Dual Standard with 270 miles of range has been discontinued.
- The Dual Large marks the new entry point for the R1T pickup and R1S SUV, costing $7,000 more.
- The R1T Dual Large costs $81,795, and the R1S Dual Large costs $85,795, including destination charge.
Following the much-anticipated launch of the R2 compact SUV, Rivian quietly discontinued the base Dual Standard model on the R1T pickup and the R1S 3-row SUV on Wednesday. The move effectively increases the entry price for the R1T and R1S lines by $7,000, but it also adds more range.
The Dual Large model, with the larger 108.5-kWh battery pack that serves as the new entry point, has an estimated 330 miles of range compared to the 270-mile range of the retired Dual Standard with the 92.5-kWh battery. That battery size will no longer be offered.
“As we refine our R1 vehicle lineup, we will be sunsetting the R1 Dual Standard,” a Rivian spokesperson confirmed via email. “Remaining Dual Standard configurations will be available in R1 Shop until inventory is depleted. Prospective owners interested in Dual Standard configurations should act now to secure their preferred trim while supplies last.”
The R1T Dual Large now costs $81,795, and the R1S Dual Large costs $85,795, including the $1,895 destination charge. The dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) unit produces 533 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque, which was the same for the discontinued Dual Standard setup. For more power, Rivian offers a $5,000 Performance upgrade or blistering Tri-Motor model or Quad-Motor performance beasts, making up to 1,025 hp. The Tri-Motor and Quad-Motor come exclusively with the Max Pack rated at 140 kWh.
The smallest of the three battery sizes for Rivian’s electric truck and 3-row SUV wasn’t particularly popular with customers, Rivian noted.
The new Rivian R2 starts at $49,985 and crests at $59,485.
