  • An unconfirmed report says Nissan will not sell its Ariya electric SUV in the U.S. for the 2026 model year
  • The move would leave Nissan with just one electric vehicle (EV) in the U.S., the newly reinvented Leaf

Nissan will reportedly not sell a 2026 version of the Ariya, an electric SUV known for a spacious cabin and some innovative storage solutions, in the U.S.

Industry publication Automotive News cites a memo to Nissan dealers reporting that the company will continue to build the car for other markets but no longer import it to the U.S.

Nissan builds the Ariya in its home country for shipping to the U.S. The Trump administration recently announced a long-term deal placing a 15% tariff on all cars imported from Japan. That, combined with the impending end of the federal government’s $7,500 electric vehicle (EV) tax credit, likely spurred the Ariya’s end.

The move would leave Nissan with just one EV for the U.S. market, the newly reimagined 2026 Leaf.
