Toyota and its Lexus luxury brand have recalled about 280,000 full-size trucks and SUVs because they can creep forward even when the transmission is in neutral.
Recalled models include:
- 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra
- 2022-2024 Toyota Sequoia
- 2022-2024 Lexus LX600
In a press release, the company explains, “Certain parts of the transmission may not immediately disengage when the vehicle is shifted to the neutral position.” The problem occurs only “on a flat surface,” Toyota says.
Dealers will fix it with a software update. Software updates are often quick service appointments. But these vehicles can’t receive them over the air, so owners must bring them to a dealership to have the patch uploaded.
