Recall Alert: Toyota Sequoia, Tundra Spare Tires Falling Off

2023 Toyota Tundra 1794 EditionToyota has issued a recall alert for about 1,400 Tundra pickups and Sequoia SUVs from the 2023 model year because their spare tires can fall off while driving.

The issue is traced to weak links in the chain that holds the spare tire in place, Toyota tells federal safety officials. A forging error may have left some links liable to break. “If this occurs while the vehicle is being driven, a detached spare tire can become a road hazard,” Toyota explains.

Dealers will fix the problem by replacing the entire spare-tire carrier assembly.
