Nissan and its Infiniti luxury marque are recalling about 12,400 SUVs because their seat frames may be improperly welded and can collapse in an accident.
The recall affects the:
- 2023 Nissan Rogue
- 2023 Nissan Pathfinder
- 2023 Infiniti QX60
Nissan tells federal safety officials, “The driver’s powered seat may not be fully secured to the seat frame.” In an accident, that could increase the odds of injury.
This is the third time in recent weeks that a manufacturer has expressed concerns about poorly welded seat frames. A report in March said that Honda had briefly halted sales of its Civic Type R performance car while it addressed seat frame concerns. BMW recalled several vehicles early this month over improperly welded seat frames.
The problem, however, may be a coincidence. BMW and Nissan use different seat suppliers. Honda has yet to tell us which supplier built the seats in the Civic Type R.
Nissan and Infiniti dealers will inspect the driver’s seat and replace it if necessary. Recall repairs are free.
Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. They try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, but they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
