Mazda’s new CX-90 flagship SUV is facing its first recall. Mazda will ask owners of about 11,000 CX-90 SUVs from model year 2024 to bring them back to dealerships for repair because multiple cameras on the vehicles may display a flickering image or no image at all.
The same recall applies to about 1,100 Mazda3 sedans from model year 2024 because their backup cameras may fail.
“Improper processing logic in the view monitor camera control module may cause image deterioration,” the company explains.
Dealers will update the software to fix the problem. These vehicles can’t receive over-the-air software updates, so owners must bring them in to have the update installed. But software updates are among the fastest service appointments.
By law, dealers don’t charge for recall repairs.
Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. They try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, but they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
