Recall Alert: Kia Telluride

Kia has recalled more than 427,000 Telluride SUVs from model years 2020 through 2024 because they can roll when parked.

Kia tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a supplier assembled some driveshafts incorrectly. They may not fully engage in drive, which can wear away at critical parts over time. That can leave them unable to fully enter park mode.

Drivers might notice a grinding noise as the problem develops. Kia is not aware of any injuries or accidents related to the problem but says it has received at least 16 warranty claims or customer complaints about it.

Dealers will inspect the driveshafts and replace any worn or misaligned parts. They will also install a software update that automatically engages the electronic parking brake every time the vehicle enters park mode.

Automakers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your car has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
