Jeep has issued a recall covering about 163,000 SUVs because their rearview cameras may fail to display an image.
The recall affects some, but not all examples of the:
- 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
- 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee
- 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
- 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer
Jeep tells federal safety officials the problem is software-related. That’s good news for owners because it means the fix is simple. Dealers will update software to correct it. Unfortunately, the vehicles are not equipped to receive over-the-air software updates. That means owners will need to bring them in for the repair. Still, it should be a relatively quick appointment.
Recall repairs are always free. Manufacturers try to reach every owner to warn them. But some always fall through the system’s cracks and are left unknowingly driving recalled cars. Check our easy recall tool to find out if your car has any outstanding recalls.
