Recall Alert: Jaguar E-Pace

2021 Jaguar E-Pace

Jaguar has issued a recall for 2,409 E-Pace SUVs from model years 2021 through 2023 because their passenger airbags can tear as they deploy in an accident.

Jaguar tells federal safety officials that the airbag unfolds through a small door panel in the dashboard. That panel may not be “sufficiently weakened” to allow the bag to pass through unscathed.

A torn airbag can fail to cushion occupants in an accident. It may also “allow the escape of hot gasses which may cause burns,” the company says.

Rather than replacing the dashboard panel, Jaguar says, dealers will replace the airbag module with a new bag “able to break through facias where the weakening cut is out of specification.”
