General Motors has issued a recall for more than 338,000 large SUVs. The move comes because their daytime running lights (DRLs) can remain illuminated even when the headlights are switched on.
That sounds like a fairly insignificant problem for their drivers. It’s the rest of the drivers on the road, though, that may be in increased danger from it. In documents filed with federal safety regulators, GM notes, “the resulting glare could increase the risk of a crash” by temporarily blinding oncoming traffic.
GM’s SUVs have developed a reputation for blinding oncoming traffic, so the automaker wants to stay on top of the problem.
Recalled models include:
- 2021 Cadillac Escalade
- 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV
- 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe
- 2021 Chevrolet Suburban
- 2021 GMC Yukon
- 2021 GMC Yukon XL
Dealers can solve the problem with a simple software update, so the appointment to fix it should be quick.
