Recall Alert: Ford Maverick Child Seat Anchors

2024 Ford Maverick driving off-road.

Ford has recalled six 2024 Ford Maverick trucks, but for a critical reason that owners will want to give immediate attention.

Ford tells federal safety officials at the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration that a supplier facility may not have installed second-row child seat tether anchors properly. The anchors may not hold a child safety seat properly in a crash.

Ford says a supplier used “an unauthorized rework” on a small number of trucks, leaving tether anchors that may not be properly threaded. The company knows of no accidents or injuries related to the problem.

Dealers will repair the tether anchors using a heli-coil, a common device used to repair stripped threads.

Dealers never charge for recall-related repairs.

Manufacturers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. Automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, but they rarely get them all. Millions of cars on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the easy VIN tool at our recall center to determine if your car is one of them.
