This may be the least alarming recall alert we’ve ever published. Ford and its Lincoln luxury marque have started a formal recall of nearly 980,000 large SUVs and heavy-duty trucks, but their owners don’t need to bring them in for repair. They’ll just need to wait for a supplement to their owner’s manuals to arrive.
Ford neglected to include instructions on how to adjust or remove head restraints in the manuals for the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator from model years 2018-2023 and the Ford Super Duty from model years 2019-2023.
Federal law requires that the manual include them, and some customers have contacted Ford to note that they’re missing. So, the company plans to mail out a short addendum to the owner’s manual with the relevant instructions.
Recall-related repairs are free, and, apparently, so are recall-related pamphlets.
Many cars are recalled to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the easy VIN tool at our recall center to find out if your car is one of them.
