Ford and its Lincoln luxury division have issued a recall affecting just 24 cars, but their owners will want to respond immediately. The defect could lead to a vehicle fire.
Affected models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2023-2024 Ford Escape
- 2023 Lincoln Corsair
- 2024 Ford Mustang
- 2025 Ford Explorer
Ford tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that car fuel injectors may not have needed o-ring support discs. Without those, the injectors could leak fuel onto hot engine parts, where it could ignite.
Ford knows of 10 warranty reports related to the problem, but no fires or injuries. Ford says that customers might notice a fuel odor in the cabin or have difficulty starting the vehicle.
Dealers will replace the o-rings and install the missing o-ring support discs to correct the problem.
