Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep and Ram, is expanding a recall for about 46,000 trucks and SUVs powered by 3.0-liter diesel engines. The company recalled 60,000 vehicles last year but has now determined that the problem is more common than it thought. So it is recalling another batch for the same issue.
The vehicles have high-pressure fuel pumps that can fail prematurely, leading to engine failure.
Recalled models include:
- 2021-2023 Jeep Wrangler
- 2021-2023 Jeep Gladiator
- 2022-2023 Ram 1500
The company is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem. It warns that owners might hear excessive engine noise or notice a check engine light as it develops.
Dealers will fix it by replacing the fuel pump and any other fuel system components that may have been affected by failing pump pressure.
Recall repairs are always free.
