Recall Alert: Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon

.

General Motors is recalling the 2021 Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and GMC Yukon XL because of potentially defective seatbelts in the third row of seats. The automaker is recalling more than 94,000 vehicles. GM believes that as few as 1-percent have the defect. However, the company needs to inspect every vehicle to find them.

The outer seatbelts in these SUVs may have been routed improperly. They can catch on the seat-folding mechanism, which could damage the belts and make them less effective in a crash.

GM is aware of no injuries or accidents associated with the defect.

The problem can make the outer seatbelts difficult to latch, but owners shouldn’t assume their SUV isn’t affected if the belts seem to be functioning normally. The fix is free, after all.

Many cars face recalls at some point in their lives. Automakers try to contact every owner to let them know they need to bring their vehicle in for repairs, but they aren’t always successful in finding everyone. You can see whether your car has any unaddressed recall issues using our recall center.
