Ram TRX Is Back, Packing 777 Horsepower

The 2027 Ram TRX Bloodshot Night Edition seen from a front quarter angle
  • Ram will resurrect its TRX supertruck for 2027, this time delivering 777 horsepower from a supercharged V8.
  • Fourteen inches of suspension travel and active suspension management should make it more than a muscle truck.

The T-Rex is coming back. Ram will bring its extraordinary Ram 1500 TRX back for the 2027 model year. It will be even more powerful than it was when Ram retired it in 2023.

The 2027 Ram 1500 TRX will start at $102,290, including a $2,595 destination charge.

Renewing a Battle for Truck Supremacy

  • The return of the TRX gives Ford’s Raptor something to fear again.
  • Ram calls it the most powerful production truck ever built.

In case this isn’t making sense to you, a quick explanation. Some automakers build high-performance editions of their ordinary full-size trucks. “Some,” in this case, means two.

Ford kicked the supertruck market off with the F-150 Raptor – an F-150 with enough suspension travel for high-speed runs over uneven ground. Ram countered with the TRX, which had similar springing but more power thanks to a supercharged Hemi V8. Ford answered with the V8-powered Raptor R.

Then the supertruck wars seemed to die out, as Chevrolet never truly entered (the Silverado ZR2 Bison has the suspension but not the power), and Ram canceled the TRX.

Now, the company has renewed the contest.

The 2027 Ram TRX will be one of the first projects of the recreated SRT speed shop.

Ram says it will offer 777 horsepower from a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8, good for a zero to 60 mph run in just 3.5 seconds.

Ram will build it only in full-time 4-wheel drive (4WD) with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an active transfer case. Billstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive shocks, active terrain management, and 14 inches of suspension travel should let you use all that power even on very rough surfaces. They support 35-inch tires.

Ram will launch it with a Bloodshot Night Edition in black with a red hood stripe, black-and-red bedside graphics, and distinctive red-outlined badges.

Ram says the TRX will be the first high-performance truck to offer Level 2 automated driving assistance – the kind that lets you take your hands off the wheel but not your eyes off the road under certain conditions.
