Ram will soon issue a recall order for about 130,000 Ram HD trucks equipped with Cummins 6.7-liter diesel engines. The trucks may have intake heater relays that can catch fire even when the engine is off.
The company is still developing a remedy for the problem. While owners wait for the fix to be announced, Ram says, “Customers are advised to not park these vehicles inside of buildings or structures, or near other vehicles until the vehicle has the final repair completed.”
The recall will affect some, but not all, 2021 and 2022 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 HD trucks. Ram has isolated the problem to trucks built on certain dates.
Ram is aware of 10 fires that may be blamed on the problem, but thankfully, no injuries.
