Making its world debut in Frankfurt the Nissan Gripz Concept was "conceived to create an innovative new driving sensation." Designed to leverage Nissan’s pioneering work in the sporty crossover realm that led to the current Juke, Qashqui and X-Trail, the Gripz was inspired by both early Nissan 240Z rally racers and contemporary road bicycles and reportedly will feature innovations that "will move the bar higher."

While the teaser images clearly show the Gripz Concept reflects a bold interpretation of the automaker’s V-Motion design language, Nissan has said little more about what lies beneath its carbon-fiber hood — or if this edgy one-off will indeed serve as the precursor to a dramatically reimaged next-gen Z-Car.
