Rolls-Royce has announced it will launch a new convertible model in mid-2016, offering few details beyond that. Claiming the car "will build on the success of Phantom, Ghost and Wraith by continuing to boldly shape the future of the marque with contemporary, graceful and sensuous styling, the automaker also promised this upcoming addition to the lineup will deliver all of the luxury Rolls is known for in a package that’s engaging and exhilarating to drive. Although the name of this new Rolls model has yet to be released, multiple sources in England indicate that this new "Drophead Coupe" will be based on the current Wraith.

Speaking from Rolls-Royce’s home base at Goodwood, West Sussex, CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, described the car as an "exciting and thoroughly contemporary interpretation of a pinnacle drophead tourer which will introduce even more discerning men and women to Rolls-Royce ownership." Early prototypes are undergoing testing.
