Mustang Mach 1 Gets Expensive Handling Package

2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1

The 2021 Ford Mustang comes in so many flavors that it’s easy to lose track of where each model slots into the stable. Buyers looking for a high-performance model, but not necessarily the expensive Shelby GT350 or GT500, have the Mustang Mach 1 to consider. This performance-oriented Mustang carries a significantly lower price than the celebrated Shelby editions. The $50,000 Mach 1 boasts a 480 horsepower V8 that sounds glorious. For 2021, it offers an optional handling package, but one that doesn’t come cheap.

Asking $3,500, the package adds a lot of grip. It includes 19-inch painted aluminum wheels, grippy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, a rear spoiler, front splitter, and a tauter chassis. Ford claims that splitter and spoiler are functional, adding 150 percent more downforce than even a GT model without them.

The package comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission or 10-speed automatic. Ford begins order taking on January 4, for early spring delivery.
