Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Costs Less in 2021 Than It Did in 2020

2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

We don’t get the chance to report this often – there’s at least one car getting cheaper in 2021. It’s not an aging option trying to stay on your list, either. It’s one recently redesigned.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport offers a lot of features for a reasonable price, with a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty. It lingers near the bottom of a crowded list of the best subcompact SUVs, thanks to low resale value and a small dealership network. But if you plan to keep it a long time and live close to a stable dealership, those aren’t necessarily hurdles to buying something sharp-looking and affordable, with one of the longest warranties currently on offer.

Last year, the base Outlander Sport would have cost you $23,690, before destination charge. Now, though, it will run you just $22,090.

The discount comes partially thanks to reduced content. A new, base S model appears for 2021, offered only in front-wheel drive. The ES trim that served as last year’s base is now a step up, and still available with all-wheel drive. But all trim levels now get a forward collision mitigation system, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Since our editors cited the lack of some standard safety equipment as another point against the 2020 model, we’re particularly happy to see those changes
