Mitsubishi Motors has confirmed that it will introduce a new compact SUV at the Geneva Auto Show in March. This sleekly styled 5-passenger crossover will be called the Eclipse Cross, a name most recently used on a compact sport coupe/convertible model last sold here in 2012. Expected to arrive here as a 2018 model, Mitsu’s U.S. boss recently told a press gathering in Detroit that it would be “the best vehicle Mitsubishi has ever produced” and pack an impressive load of safety tech and driver assist features, with that latter category including an available Head-Up Display.
Set to slot in between the current Outlander and Outlander Sport, this upcoming member the automaker’s vehicle family will pack a new 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. While not confirmed, it also could be offered in plug-in hybrid form. We’ll know more shortly.
